Hi all, I just got a new Pioneer plasma TV (50A5HD I believe) for xmas, and have been reading up on Pioneers and plasma TVs in general. I have the TV in break-in mode right now (reduced contrast/brightness, and USER ZOOM mode to avoid black bars & channel logos).
My question is, some links I've read state that the Pioneer uses an optical grade non-glass (i.e. plastic) screen, and the Pioneer FAQ says not to place the plasma TV in a room with strong light. My family room is pretty bright, with four tall windows which face southwest. I do have light filtering window treatments (cellular shades) installed, but should I be worried about the effect of the filtered sunlight on the Pioneer screen? I know that some plastics will yellow with age and light exposure, is this something I need to be concerned about with the Pioneer plasma screen?
BTW I'm not too concerned about the glare from the light because I don't watch much TV during daytime, and I prefer to use the LCD TV in my kitchen for casual (non-movie) viewing.
I will post some photos of my setup once I am able to do so.
Thanks for your thoughts!
