Like an idiot I put an unshielded speaker on top of my TV, after I noticed I had discoloration in the corners of the picture tube I removed the speaker, the colour distortion remains.
OK after putting up with it for a while, I bit the bullet at sent it down to get that demagnetizing 'wand' ran over it. Now it's one hell-of-a-lot worse......I mean you have to turn the TV on and of a NUMBER of times even to get a watch-able picture, and sometimes it snaps back into a 'proper' image. Has this guy stuffed up my display? Is there anything I can do to rectify this? I'm a bit hesitant to send it off again, as I don't want him to screw it up any worse than it is now..(It's driving me insane).
It seems to make a difference if you let the TV run for some time before trying the "turn it off and the on again" routine. There seems to more of a degauss 'click' after it's run for a while.
when displaying a blue background, like standby of a DVD, the edges are vivid red, if I switch it off and on again, the red is replaced with green, and instead of being around the edges in now over 3/4 of the screen with the center being almost yellow. It stays in this configuration for multiple on/off's and sometimes it will snap back to a perfectly coloured picture.
I do not want to keep switching it on and off, it getting ridiculous. Should I send it away again? Is this guy going to charge me for some part i don't need. Can the circuit that is responsible for demagnetizing the TV be damaged?
Please help, what can I do?
