I'm trying to decide which lcd monitor to purchase and I've narrowed it down to two options

AcerŪ AL1732d

17" Flat Panel Display

Acer AL1716, also 17' (20.00 more)

Both of the model's spec are the same except that the 1732D has contrast ratio of 500:1, Brightness 400 cd/m2, and a response of 12ms. The 1716 has a contrast ratio of 700:1, Brightness 300 cd/m2 , and a response of 8ms.

Which is more important: Contrast ratio or cd/m2

Since LCD's rarely suffer from brightness issues, go with the higher contrast ratio and lower response time.
