Stand suggestions for 34XS955?
I am leaning towards this:
http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Tech-Craft-34-36-TV-Stand-HXS3436-/sem/rpsm/oid/111598/catOid/-12892/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do
This is made for the 34XS955
Any other suggestions?

I just bought a Stand for my 34" Sony.
http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Z-Line-Designs-36-TV-Stand-2359-1S-/sem/rpsm/oid/69533/catOid/-12892/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do
I wanted the open-back design. It's also a very affordable stand. It has room for about 4-5 components on the shelves and is easy to set up. And it's much nicer looking in person
The set you picked is only 18" high. Too low for my tastes. It also seems to be difficult to assemble judging from the customer reviews.
Here's another one I liked:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=6755601&type=product&id=1093469585406
Again, it was just too low. Only 17", but it's a very nice stand.
If you live near an IKEA you might also want to take a look at the Magiker (http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10103&storeId=12&langId=-1&productId=11726) and Benno (http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10103&storeId=12&langId=-1&productId=52065) TV stands. Both are quite nice and there are several members here that have the Magiker stand with their 34" XS/XBR. I have a 34" XS with the Benno stand and I like it quite a bit. Pretty sturdy too.
If you don't mind waiting for delivery, I would check out this site. I purchased a TECH CRAFT CAB41 for my Sony 34XBR960. Great construction (made in Canada), and great pricing for what you get. I liked the CAB41 because it has a swivel base and lotsa room underneath...plus the grey is a close match to the Sony cabinet. The site really has a lot of options for you to look at.

Is this stand deep enough?

Yea it just barely fits. You can read the reviews on CC.com too. A lot of people have 34" and 36" Sony's. Here's one:
"I bought this stand because I had finally decided on a DHTV -- the Sony KV34HS510 -- and now was driving myself crazy looking for the perfect stand or wall unit. I finally decided to just go with a simple, low-cost stand that I wouldn't mind replacing in several months if I decided on another type of furniture to go with the TV. Having said that, I will also say that buying this stand was not really a case of settling. I checked out this stand and the $299 Sony stand designed for my new HDTV at Circuit City, and the Z-Line stand was just as good looking and durable, for half the price. Plus, the Z-Line stand has two shelves for A/V equipment while the Sony stand only has one shelf. Assembly is very easy -- figure on 10 minutes -- and it is quite sturdy (the Sony KV34HS510 weighs 201 pounds."
I don't know when you plan on buying the stand but once I get my digital camera back from a friend who is on vacation, I'll take some pics. I should have it back next Friday, the 24th.

Another thing I am concerned about is that 2 - 3 reviews on CC of people with CRT sets said that the stand seems unstable. One person said that the stand felt like it could easily fall forward with his 34" CRT on it. I really want to get this stand, but I do not want it to be unstable.
Think I am going to go with this Z Line from CC instead:
http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/productDetailReview.do?oid=69535&com.broadvision.session.new=Yes&BV_UseBVCookie=No#tabs
It is $50 more than the other Z Line but has a higher weight capacity, and from the reviews seems a little more sturdier and all around more favored.
Thanks for all the advice.

The stand feels stiry to me. I guess it depends on how well you put it together. That is also a nice stand. I was looking at it but from the reviews it is very easy to scratch. When you get it try and get some pictures if you can. I'd like to see it. On the boxes of the stands you'll see Z-Line has won a couple of awards with the stands for Excellence in Design. Both are great and can't go wrong with either.

I will post pictures once I get everything in a week or two. The scratching is the only down side. I will have to be ver careful. I was thinking that I could possibly put something under the TV (between the TV and glass) to prevent it from scratching.

Just a side note. The $130 stand's maximum weight is 310 pounds. It says so in the manual. The $180 one is 350(I think) pounds. And both stands have a lifetime warranty. The info on CC's website is a little off.
Great thread, I'm looking for a stand too, was going to go the lazy way...Sony matched stand, now I think I will reconsider and save some $$$. Thanks everyone.

I bought the Zline stand for my Sony 30HS420 a couple months ago and love it, Ive slid the tv out a bit to plug stuff in alot and haven't got any scratchs. Heres a pic of mine but i took the shelf out to put my center there (yeah i know not the best speaker placement but only temporary till i can figure something else out)

Ok, I got the $180 stand and my 34XS955. They look awesome together! As soon as I get beatteries for my digital camera I will take pictures. Stand was easy to assemble and is very sturdy. I highly reccomend this stand, last I check CC has it on sale for like $150.

TV comes tomorrow.
Cage, I also posted in your thread on the Home Theater boards over at IGN
Myke, that's the stand I'm leaning towards, going to CC to check it out as well as other stands.

It won't be on display at CC. They keep them in the back. I printed out the page of their website and brought it in and they even gave me the "Web Only" price in the store. That's how it was at my CC anyway. The picture doesn't do it justice, it's much nicer in person.
Myke, have you placed your tv on it yet? Just wondering how the wires hide, appears to have little room to hide wires due to the narrow back. Anyone else?

My TV should be here within the hour :D The wire management is pretty good though. Since it uses the V-Base you can hide wires or surge protectors underneth the bottom shelf. I'll probably have a picture up by 12.
edit: just got it and set it up. this thing has one nice picture

Off topic but you might want to move your front speakers out a bit myke, I had mine just like that but it just sounded like everything was coming from the middle, moved them out and it made a huge diffrence

i know. but i cant move them. I have a dresser and a computer right next to my setup. if I move the speakers out any more they would get in the way :(

Just finished putting together my new stand a couple hours ago. Actually had my 6 year old help and I tightened everything up at the end. We ended up getting the Z-Line Skylar44s. It was the best looking one , had good height, black glass top and shelves, beautiful brushed finished aluminum legs in the front, but costed considerably more. The CC we went to had a lot of stands on display, which was great as we got closeup views before shelling out the cash.
Assembly was easy, one of the best, instructions laid out plainly, each part individually bagged and labeled, even extra parts.

BestBuy had zero, none, zip. All they did for me was show me a book. Which was just printout pages from their website. Of two I selected and asked for pricing, both were not carried anymore, they had one left in a warehouse and the prices were not competitive at all. For those looking for a stand, skip BB and go direct to CC. Print out those web only prices also to save over the in store prices.
