Anyone own or have any thoughts on the KS-32XS945?

I'm asking because I've found a new one for $750(after shipping) and I think it might be a better deal than even the $699 30xs955 at JR.

What do you think?

If you don't mind a 4:3 HDTV than go for it. I personally wouldn't buy it since all HD content is 16:9.

actually the KD-32XS945 does not have the super fine pitch tube
as long as you are ok with getting an HS420 model TV with cable card slot, HD tuner, and few other features, it will be a good buy
but it will not have the outstanding picture quality that make people rave about the XBR960/910, and the XS955 TVs
If you don't mind a 4:3 HDTV than go for it. I personally wouldn't buy it since all HD content is 16:9.
But HD amounts to only about 5% of the broadcasts so for the other 95% of TV viewing the 4:3 set is a better choice.

Unless one only watches HD then what's the point of having such a small screen size in the first place?

The 4:3 issue can go either way with me. Mostly I watch 4:3 now but I know in the future it'll be WS

Whats the difference between the tube on the XS955/960 and this one?

Thanks everyone for your input!
The 4:3 issue can go either way with me. Mostly I watch 4:3 now but I know in the future it'll be WS
Actually the future is not widescreen. We're getting about as much HD programming as we'll ever see in primetime but there are still a few shows that will probably start being shot in HD, but all the various cable channels and secondary broadcast channels will still be 4:3 for many many years to come. Not much will change compared to what we have already.

Whats the difference between the tube on the XS955/960 and this one?The current XS955 and XBR960 are Super Fine Pitch tubes while the XS945 is the regular WEGA tube (like the HS420 economy models). It's basically just a 32HS420 with an HD tuner added.

are you sure? as I understand channels on cable/satellite are switching to HD all the time

check out the HD programming threads

TCM is suppose to go HD soon, CNN just recently adopted HD, MTV will have a HD channel soon if its not already available

Widescreen is also a benefit for movies aka DVDs and High Definition content discs
