Does anybody know any way to reset the service menu settings to factory values for Sony KV-29FX20D or any ideas about where can I find a service manual or the orginal values ??? BTW it is a FE-1 chassis... Thanx...
I'm not familiar with this particular model, but before you go resetting the SM...
Be advised, there's a good chance it will erase not only your settings, but also many important factory tweaks/adjustments on the TV as well, likely resulting in an even worse picture/more work to reconstruct things than you have now.
Usually the best strategy is to get a service manual or data list and write down the original settings from your particular TV, before making any changes, so you can switch them back to the previous out-of-box settings, rather than wiping the slate completely clean with an SM reset, and destroying all the factory tweaks/adjustments in addition to your own.
One place service manuals can be ordered is through Sony Parts (http://servicesales.sel.sony.com/web/contact_us.jsp) (800-488-SONY). And they can also give you info on Sony's "non-authorized service tech support", which is a "900" number that costs somethin like $3/minute (with a minimum of ~$20/call) for assistance with repairs including SM adjustments.
The service manual should list the "defaults". But as I say above, the defaults may or may not result in a decent picture, since each TV is usually individually tweaked/adjusted by the factory before it's shipped to stores. Also don't expect much in way of instructions from the service manual. Usually the descriptions of the parameters in there are slim to none, since they're designed for trained technicians who already know what most of the settings do.
