Is it worth the hundreds of dollars? How much of an improvement is there and what kind of improvements have you noticed? What kind of things do they fix? Since CRTs have the best overall picture quality, an ISF calibrated CRT could quite possibly have the greatest picture quality aside from actual film negatives.

Me and Q had our TV's ISF calibrated by the same fellow. We both have Sony 34XBR960's. I will let Q give you his report but I can tell you my experience with it. Answers inline:

Yes, very much so. On my XBR the PQ is amazing, DVD's and XBox are no exception, as well.

Numerous improvements, geometry issues as well as grayscale dramatically improved. I saw improvement across the board from fleshtones to black detail.
What kind of things do they fix?
My ISF calibrated was amazing so I can't speak for all calibrators. My guy adjusted magnets to fix geometry issues. He adjusted the TV for overscan. He adjusted grayscale across the board. He calibrated my DVD player with my TV. He calibrated my XBox and went the extra step to make a gamma change that I could switch on to improve the brightness of games to match what the game developer envisioned during creation.
Overall I was impressed with the ISF calibration I recieved. My calibrator spent some 7 hours at my home taking great care in giving me the best picture I could get from the 960. I highly recommend anyone who wants the best out of there display to have it done. Check out the following for Chad, the fellow who did my calibration:

Go for ISF calibration, Lazyboy you won't regret it.

Damnit, I want to sell my 30HS420 and get the 30XS955 but I can't seem to find anyone to buy it. I put it up for sale on craigslist and recycler but I keep getting those Nigerian email scams. I would want the 34XBR960 but it costs a lot more, plus it might be too big for my room.

Have you tried www.videogon.com yet? You might be able to sell your set with more success there and maybe even find something you like to buy at a good price.

It's great, but I've just been so spoiled by the clarity of the Super Fine Pitch that I just got to get the 30XS955.
How much for the HS?
How much does it cost or how much am I selling it for? I'm selling it for $500 and it normally costs around $750 in stores right now.

Hit this area. For a large city like Atlanta, it wouldn't surprise me if you do a search and see some hits for that already, otherwise if you make a thread and a request, I'm sure you'll get a response promptly.
