how much weight???

First off, I am a newbie at home theater.

I have a 27" JVC television and I want to buy a center channel speaker to place on top of it, 5.1 system. Question, how much weight can I put on top of the TV without breaking the TV? 20 lbs? I noticed that most of the really decent middle channel speakers seem to weigh 20 lbs and heavier.
Any info will be appreciated.

It really depends on how the speaker distributes the weight. Twenty pounds from
end to end of the TV should not be a problem, however, you may have to support the back
side due to the TV's depth.
