This might sound like a dumb question, but here goes.. I just purchased a KV-30HS420 to upgrade from my current 27" Sony CRT (KV-27DS1 from January 1988, still going strong and has NEVER had a single problem!) but didn't think out all of the minor details because I was getting such a deal on the 30".

The 27" is currently on a stand that is advertised to support up to 30" TV, but when I measured the width of the stand and compared it to the width of the new TV, it's just a little bit too narrow, 32-33". Would an inch or two hanging off of either side be a big problem on this set? The bottom of it looks flat, and the stand would definitely still be supporting the tube portion of it.

Also, the depth would mean that the back end would hang off a bit as well, but these are front-heavy and I saw a post of someone's set with a few inches of the back end hanging off so that doesn't worry me as much.

Looking forward to have a real HDTV! I've been using a wall-mounted Dell 2005FPW with a FusionHDTV tuner in my bedroom up until now but wanted something for the livingroom as well. Thanks in advance!

What kind of stand is it?

It's just a regular old no-name TV stand with a flat top, particleboard or MDF I think. I'm not worried about the weight of the TV, since the TV that is on there now is probably around the same weight, or not much less, than the new one. Just wanted to make sure it's alright if a little bit (between 1" and 2")"hangs" off of either side.

I would say yes. As long as it's not like 4 inches or anything.

I am sorry yo bring up such an old thread and topic, but how is a 27 inch curved tube tv the same weight as a 150 pound flat screen tv? The new tv probably weighes double the 27 inch tv.
