View Full Version : Will todays HDMI receivers do HD-DD and DTS?

I'm wanting a new receiver but I'm concerned about the future audio formats available. Will the receivers, like the 72txv, be able to do HD audio when it's available...

Probably not. As I understand things, HD-DD and DTS will require HDMI 1.3. As that standard doesn't yet exist, it's unclear what will be necessary to decode it. On the other hand, the players are said to be able to convert HD-DD and DTS to PCM. That can be decoded by today's receivers.

They will convert, or they will down convert? down conversion doesnt really do me any good...
