I've been eyeing this model for months and all of a sudden BB, CC, and even Tweeter only have floor models. Is there a replacement coming? Another thread mentions a new XBR and seems really to be a HS level TV.

Is Sony going to keep making a TV of the quality of a 34HS420, or should I be desparately looking for a remaining one if I want a good quality HD CRT?

Just get the XBR 970 34". It's the same price, with a few extra features (namely the built-in tuner). The HS series, as it now is produced, is gone by way of legality...all new sets MUST have a digital tuner, which the current models do not.

You can still order it online.

This makes no sense since some of use live way out and will never ever get TV anyway but by satelite( maybe in the far future after I'm dead, cable ) negating the need for a tuner?

Yeah, after being VERY nervous that had waited one week too long and was totally screwed to ever get a good CRT, I searched a lot more on here and found the XBR970.

With a $1200 MSRP, I'm hoping Best Buy may actually have it at 1100 normal, if not $1050. As soon as it's out, and I get another 10% off Rewardzone coupon, I'll finally take the plunge.

As for the tuner, yeah, that's the law now, I had forgot about that kicking in now. I'll have a HD DTV box anyway, so the tuner will be worthless.

I think I read somewhere this set will have an antiglare glass too. Is that true?

Your in the minority with living in the country, Most people live in citys where over the air hdtv is available. I wish my tv had a built in tuner sometimes sense comcast cable doesn't get all of the ota channels so now i'll half to buy a hdtv tuner box for like $200 or more but thats a sacrafice im willing to make to have a great quality hdtv.

And that is now a sacrifice we will not have the option of making. I would prefer to be able to buy a separate high quality tuner rather than settling for what ever crap tuner the TV manufactureres decide to put in the box. Oh yesy you can still do that but you now have to pay for something you don't want and in some cases will never use.

Did you have the same complaint when TVs were first introduced with NTSC tuners? After 2009 I imagine TVs will no longer come with an NTSC tuner so that will save $1 per TV - which the makers I'm sure will pass on to you.

I wouldn't say the built in tuners are crap tuners, I think there probably better then alot of the standalone tuners from what ive read. Just cause its built in doesn't make it crap, Just like the built in SD tuner in my sony set is better for SDTV then my comcast 6412 box.
