I have a HTPC with Windows Media Center. I have read the tread on ffdshow. My understanding is that I cannot use ffdshow with WMC. Can I use ffdshow with another DVD player software. Can you also recommend a good DVD software to use with ffdshow.

And it took me forever to get my box correctly setup with WMC due the decoder. Will I have issues with installing ffdshow with WMC? Any advice would be great.

Thank you

I don't use WMC so I can't help you there.... I use TheaterTek2 with FFDSHOW with very good results. I've also used Zoomplayer with FFDSHOW with very similar results. I prefer the TT2 because it's more "finished" (and it should be for $80) and is updated regularly with new features.

You just can't use ffdshow for post processing MPEG-2 content (upscaling, etc) within the Media Center shell. You can use it with ZP, TT, etc just fine which answers your other DVD software question. Most people use the My Movies Plug-In to launch TT. This gives you the ability to nicely launch TT from within Media Center, and use ffdshow with TT from there.

I am also using the newest TheaterTek2. If you dont mind can you please provide your settings for FFDSHOW and TT2? Please. I have been playing with this and looking at forums with no luck.

Thank you

If you are looking to use ffdshow I would recommend searching for Socio's thread on avisyth. He has a website with a tutorial on it that is excellent.
