I get an error message that says, Access Violation at address 0043065A in modules 'SmartRipper.exe'. Read of address 0000000C. There is no problem recognizing DVD-R's. My drive plays DVD-Ram discs perfectly. Anybody have an ideas what the problem might be? Thanks

I believe the video format and structure on DVD-RAM disks is totally different that DVD+/-R/RW. I don't believe smart ripper is going to be able to "rip" DVD-RAM disks nor any other standard DVD ripper for that matter. You probably should search over in the DVD recoder forum for more information as I am assuming you have a Panny or related DVD recorder there are a lot of post over there on how to handle DVD-RAM discs. I use Panasonic's MovieAlbum software that will cover DVD RAM video to raw mpeg and then I can use DVD authoring software to make a DVD or covert from that to some other more effcient codec depending on my needs.

Panasonic's MovieAlbum software comes (or at least did) with their DVD-RAM drives. Some careful googling often turns up a copy on the Internet too.

secstate, thanks for your comments. I realize there are other methods and software programs (DVD Movie Factory etc) to deal with RAM media. I downloaded SmartRipper to play around with the program. I read on various websites that some people were using SmartRipper with DVD-Ram discs. I can not understand why I can't, and I am determined to find out how to do so if it is possible. I searched a little bit for the Panny MovieAlbum programs but had no luck. Anyway, I have read that other people have the same problem as me so I hope to find a fix. It is a project for me, albeit probably a silly one.
