High all, after trolling these boards for some time, I ended up buying a pioneer dv578A a while ago. Its worked great for ~ a year now, but in the last couple days I noticed the front LED is all messed up.

It looks like all the front lights are light and the display shows what looks like a 1 under the CH and a C at the very end of the display.

It doesnt matter if a disc is in or not --- it does the same thing.

The DVDs still play fine and the remote still works fine, just the lcd display is in a really crooked state.

I tried unplugging it for a couple secs - but nothing seems to work - if its turned on, everything is all light up on the display.

Any suggestions on possible rememdies? Firmware upgrade or anything -- anyone seen this happen before?

I'm really rather ticked at the prospect that this might be broken after 1 year of use. I've had a 30$ cheapo chinese import that has lasted 3 years now. blah.

anyway, any help woudl be greatly appreciated.

Try pushing the dimmer button on the left of the display. My unit has done that before and it fixed it. I don't know what's causing it. I may try a firmware upgrade soon to see if it fixes it.
