I'm considering purchasing a 37 in. flat planel display. I'm in between the LG 37LC2D and the Panasonic TH-37PX60U.

Has anyone had a chance to see either of these sets with a SD source?

The Panasonic has a power consumption of 325 W. Does anyone know the power consumption for the LG?

Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated.

Bump - i'm interested in this comparison as well.

Can anyone make a recommendation here?

I have the panasonic 37" and in my opinion it is better than any LCD. I've had viewsonic, Sony, Sharp and Samsung. There is a realism with Plasma that you just don't get with LCD and the Panasonic shines when it comes to SD.

I'm interested in this thread as well. Any reason that you're not considering the Sharp AQUOS LC-37D40U? This one is also on my list.

i am - I've heard good things about the Sharps, but I think it will be significantly cheaper as the rebranded HP 3760N. Does anyone know when that will be in stores?

I don't love the bezel on the Sharp, to be honest, and the early reviews havent been great. But, every salesman I've spoken to has said great things about Sharps. And, the inputs, QAM tuner, and refresh rate are all appealing.

I'm also considering the Samsung 4041. My main concern is that at a distance of 6-7 ft, would 40in be overkill?

I do think that 40" would be overkill, I am at about 7' with my 37" and I am glad it is no bigger, I had to move it back another foot become it seemed to large.

ahh, the voice of reason. Considering I plan to move this to the bedroom at some point, that's probably good advice.

the 4041's speakers are side mounted, to - so, its seems even bigger than it is.

OK, I'm bumping this thread to add another twist. I'm also looking at these two units. I'm going to be using this not only as a TV but also as a monitor for my media center PC (it's a Mac mini, but let's not worry about the kind of computer).

It looks like the LG has a specific VGA port (analog) that maxs out at 1024 x 768. I've seen folks here say that the LG doesn't "map" that resolution to the full resolution, but I'm not sure what that means. Does it mean there will be black bars on both sides?

The Panasonic doesn't specifically list PC support, but it does have a second HDMI input. Anyone with the Panasonic have a PC hooked up to it? It seems like if I hook up my computer with a DVI to HDMI cable that I'd be hunky dory, but I'd love to hear from someone who's done that. The resolution on the Panasonic is technically lower (1024 x 720), but I'm not that concerned about that for my application.

Thoughts?

This is correct with the VGA port, but this limitation doesn't exist with the HMDI port, you can set up your PC in 16:9 resolution. Otherwise I love the PQ of the monitor, most of the complaints I notice are usually from people who spent hundreds of dollars more for something with the same PQ.
