I am needing advice for a HT receiver that has at least 2 HDMI inputs(1 from HD TiVO and 1 from DVD) and then 1 HDMI out to my Plasma. I found it on $3,000 Denon and Harmon Kardon units, but that is overkill for me. I don't need so many video in/outs, and all the extra connectors these high end units have. Anybody make a nice one for sub $1,000?
A bonus would be a way to power my outdoor patio speakers without another receiver. Some have a second "zone" I think?
Thanks,
MIKE
HK does a nice job with second zone, with a separate remote and ability to independently amplify, select source, and set volume for zone 2. I believe the 435 and 635 permit this. However, no HDMI.
If you're not concerned with the audio portion of HDMI (which seems to be a bit up-in-the-air right now), you might want to find an outboard HDMI switch box. I believe www.monoprice.com has some that are not terribly expensive, and maybe there are some that accept remote control signals that you could program into your receiver's remote macro to switch them automatically.

I used to hook up my HT TiVo to my plasma via HDMI and it looked great. I since bought a Bose Lifetsyle series 2, but it only has component. So my TiVo goes through the Bose via component and back to the TV via component but it doesn't look quite as sharp as before. I know I could go direct to the TV but I really want it all simple, with only 1 cable to the TV.
If we ignore my $1,000 limit, how much do I have to spend to get this?(probably still less than the Bose)

Monoprice has a 4x1 with a remote control for around $100. I think you should invest the rest of your money in something other than Bose personally...any I'm probably not in the minority here to feel that way.

Receiver wise, I would look into the Denon 2807, should be around $1,000 and suit your needs nicely.

The Onkyo 803 retails for about $999, I think. And JVC makes an HDMI switching receiver that CNET gives top marks to for around $800.
