While all the hubbub at present seems to revolve around the new offerings from Sharp as compared to the ~Old~ Sony XBR2/3 and Samsung 4696, etc., the Mitsubishi LCD (I'm thinking of the LT-46231) is kind of waiting in the shadows. It ain't out yet and as a respected AVS member said recently regarding same, 'We won't know the verdict until they hit and somebody buys one and/or gets their hands on a unit for an opportunity to run it through the paces.'
One key feature it does have is the DVI input option for PC/Mac compatibility. Like the Westinghouse, that's a winning attribute in my book. DVI ain't legacy just yet and I don't quite understand why the other major's dropped this option.

Google 'Mitsubishi LT-46231' and 'Mitsubishi LT-46131' to access Mitsubishi's website and descriptions for both sets as well as early pricing from some online retailers taking pre-orders. I have it from good authority that these sets aren't coming for another three weeks at the most (the 37" LT-37131 is out already in stores). Since Mitsubishi is the only other manufacturer selling a 1080p LCD besides Samsung that does Picture-in-Picture it has caught my eye as much as the new Sharp D62 LCD's (which don't offer PIP). But man, with the prices of Sammy 1080p LCD's falling like a rock it's hard to be enticed to pay top dollar for a 1080p Mitsubishi instead of waiting... or giving in into temptation, forget the 2% overscan and buying a Sammy LCD! :(

Dad -
Any idea where Mitsubishi is sourcing their panels from? 46" form factor would seem to dictate either Samsung or Sharp, no?
Kinda curious too about the 12 bit processing, although much of that could be numbers-mktg. Indeed, by the time these hit the street there could very well be significant 'adjustments' to MSRP.
4 guys in the ring for a 'UFC' LCD title...

No idea where the 46" panels are from. The 37" panels of the LT-37131/231 LCD's are from Sharp (same as those used by the 37D90U).

I emailed Mitsu's support to ask where the 46" panels are from. I have not yet heard back. I had heard awhile ago that they were using S-PVA panels from Samsung for the LT-46131 and LT-46231, but I would like to hear that information from Mitsubishi to be certain.
