Hi,
I just purchased Emprex HD-3701 from Fry's in Sunnyvale, CA. From Emprex's website, this 37" unit can display 1920x1080. I connect it to my PC via DVI to HDMI cable. I have an eVGA 6800GT in my computer. This is my first LCD-TV. Before this display, I have a Dell 2001FP which can only display 1600x1200 max. I also displayed on a SUN 24" LCD which also displayed at 1920x1080. With the Dell and SUN monitors, the text is displayed very clearly. With the Emprex unit, the fonts are not very clear. I'm displaying at 1920x1080 on the Emprex unit. I think the terminology is "cross color?" With a black background and white (or other color) text, I should see the pixels display the black and white (or color) very clearly. But instead I see "rainbow-like" colors in the pixels where the color should be transitioning. Is this normal for other LCD-TVs? Or do i just have a bad unit?
Can anybody please comment on what I'm seeing? Maybe I should try other brands???
Thanks in advance!!

jlee301, I don't have DVI->VGA.
cdcooker, sorry no pictures.
Anyways, I returned the unit this morning. I wasn't too impressed with it. I guess you get what you paid for. I had a ATI Radeon 9550 laying around so I tested on the unit. The picture quality still looked bad. The only thing I noticed is that the card was outputing 1920x1080 @30Hz. So maybe it's running in interlaced mode. I looked in the manual, it specifically states that it can only display 1080i. Maybe this is why it looked so poor.
Well, I guess I have to shell out more $$$ to get another unit.

At that sale price on Memorial Day, it would be really a heck of a deal for a true 1920x1080 LCD. So I guess it is not true 1080p for computer display at least.

The emprex 3701 is a 1366x768 panel. The 3701p is the 1920x1080 panel. You're seeing artifacts from the crappy scaler in the 3701. I had one and returned it. The 3701p maybe a better purchase.

According to emprex web site, the 3701 is 1080p, 3701p is 1080i.

Well, I have spent the better part of this morning testing the set and here is what I found... the short answer is that the unit does not support 1080P@60hz and it is going back to fry's unless someone else has better luck.
First let me tell you my setup:
dual 7600GT in SLI form, latest nvidia beta drivers, powerstrip, xp.
Fry's says this unit supports 1080P which I confirmed with some of the techs at the Seattle Fry's. I hooked the unit up and the drivers immediately switched to 1080 (good job nVidia!). Additionally the monitor's status said 1920x1080 at 60. The picture looked fabulous...
I played around a bit and began to notice jaggedy lines consistent with interlaced signals. I delved a bit deeper and found the vertical refresh was actually at 29.97 - BUMMER.
After reviewing all available HD advanced outputs in the nVidia toolset I chose the 1920x1080 at 60hz - double BUMMER. The set could not handle the signal. At this point I thought that I was doing something wrong and tried many combinations the nVidia toolset and powerstrip.
Finally I tried 1920x1080 at 50hz - bingo - that worked. I suppose in Europe or other places where PAL is the standard this unit would be considered a 1080P signal. I am no expert when it comes to what is considered progressive HD and all the semantics involved however, if I were to send an opinion poll to my fellow members of avs I would expect 90% of the folks would consider that the term 1080P implies 1080P at 60hz. Hopefully I am wrong and someone figures out how to drive the emprex at 1080P@60hz.
Finally, is it possible that my cable does not support this bandwidth? It is a standard phoenix gold DVI to HDMI cable.
Does anyone know if the new DH-3701 (1080 res) model has a cable ready tuner? If yes is it analogue or digital or both?
I'm fairly sure it has both an NTSC and ASTC over the air tuners. I have cable and my Mits DLP can pick up HD on digital channels without the need for a cable set top receiver. I am considering the Emprex unit for the bedroom and don't want to have to get a cable reciever.
