Hey Guys and Gals,
At the end of July I will be moving back to the UK. I currently own a Panny TH-42PA25 that I love too much to part with. As far as I know, it is a NTSC/110v only panel. I have seen several items online that I am hoping would make it work in the UK. The first of which is a step up/down power converter such as this (http://www.voltageconverters.com/itemdesc.asp?CartId={E046B5D6-6EVERESTFB5-4AE8-AF57-1484FD67A8CC}&ic=VC1000W). I believe the requirements on this tv are around 3-400watts, so I assume a 750-1000w converter would handle any extraordinary power spikes.
The only other issue I have is in finding a good PAL/NTSC video converter. I am planning to have SKY Satellite service, but I am not sure whether their set-top boxes convert between the two outputs (they probably don't). I have seen this (http://www.barrel-of-monkeys.com/graphics/prod/videcon/1660/1660.shtml), but I am not too sure if it is what I need. Does anyone know of any other such devices (and BTW, is it legal to convert PAL-NTSC signals)?
I have searched and seen a few threads on this forum with people asking if they can ship their tv to where they are moving, but none of them have answered the questions I have. If anyone could help out, or point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.
Thank you,
Mark
