Need help to convert US bought Pioneer DV588A from original 110V to 230V. Will this unit work on 230V even though its marked for 110V use. If not, are there any tweaks, use of jumpers, change of (few) components to make this happen. All this to avoid using a step down trafo. If a trafo is the only recourse what wattage would it have to be?
Why not just get an external voltage converter? I am sure you can get one easily from stores or online.

Yeah, that would be the easiest route to take and one which I may just have to take if nothing else works out. I am reluctant to do it because a) it just might be unnecessary if the internal smps is capable of, as most players are nowadays, working of 230V too and b) because I dont want to introduce an unwanted, noisy, lossy device in the power train.
I would just like to know if it is possible. and practical, to avoid the use of an external device.
