Is it true that all LCD panels are nativly progressive scan?

As true as the day is long. It's probably more correct to say that they don't scan at all. They just change everything at once.

All digital displays are natively progressive. LCD, DLP, LCOS, SXRD.

But.....just because they are progressive does not mean they will accept a progrerssive signal.....

So then I wonder why all displays that currently support 1080i don't also support 1080p by default. Or do they and just don't state it? You would think manufacturers would want to include 1080p if the displays were already capable of reproducing it.

Its a bandwidth and proccessing power issue. 1080i only send 540 lines of resolution for each frame whereas 1080p sends 1080 lines. There is some overhead associated with deinterlacing but it doesnt compare to the bandwidth and proccessing power needed for 1080 lines as opposed to 540 + overhead.

Oh and spreading out your available features over several product launches has been a marketing stratagy for as long as all of us have been alive.
