I just got the Panasonic 900u as my first PJ. Great fun with big image size on my DIY silverscreen painted board. However, the picture playing a DVD using component cables and a few-year-old sony dvd player with progressive output was only 'so-so' quality compared to my amazing 50" pioneer elite plasma. I started to worry that front projectors are fun but not so great quality.

Then i connected my cable box with component cables and put on HBO-HD. All i can say is WOWWWW i am so glad i bought this projector! The problem is, i want to make my large DVD collection play well so i think i need to upgrade the old sony dvd player or get an unconverter or something. Can anyone help with advice/tips/suggestions for the best way to play my DVDs on the 900 panasonic? I realize it will never compare to HD cable, but there has to be something better for me. The DVDs look much better on my plasma than the new FP. I have read alot about the Oppo player?

Thanks from a semi-happy new FP owner. If i can get my DVD to improve than i will be giddy!
