Hi All,
My Sony S360 seems to have given up the ghost. I'm getting an almost constant stream of 'no disc' errors with DVD's, even brand new ones. (CD's play fine)
So I'm thinking of replacing the DVD player. To make matters worse, it seems like my AH! Njoe Tjoeb may also have given up the ghost, so I'd like a DVD player with good CD sound.
System: Toshiba 36" TV set. Not HD.
better cables component cables
Jolida 1501 2-channel stereo, so no surround, and I'd be using the DVD player for DTS and other digital stuff.
some sort of small solid speaker cable from Mapleshade I think.
(I tried to be an audiophile but failed).
I've heard the Philips DVP642 is good, but has some sort of problem with the power light.
The Panasonic F87 looks really good, but panny has a H07 error. How prevalent is that?
Sony NS55 looks pretty good, haven't found much wrong with it. Though some people say Sony quality is a myth of the past.
I am a poor veterinary student so need a good unit that will last for a while. No upgrades forseeable in my system for some time. (I used to be an engineer, hence the large TV and tube components). ANd it has to be cheaper. Hoping for $100 or less. Or is there a unit just over this price point that's really worth it in terms of quality and dependability?
I have no DVD-Audio or SACD disks, just DVDs and CDs. Would like to be able to play all disks (CD-R, CD-RW etc).
