I saw the Samsung LNS 40' hooked up to the Blue ray player yesterday at Bestbuy and saw the Chicken little preview, all I can say is MAN OH MAN!!! it looked good, currently I have the Pioneer 5070 plasma on order and have a Toshiba HD A1, I hope my picture is awesome, that are some of the imputs you guys have, I just want to be blown away by the picture quality on my panel?, Not sure if the Samsung LNS 46' 1080p would have been a better choice, please tell me your thoughts!

Unless you have specific reasons to go to the LCD TVs (brightly light room, will be doing mostly gaming with the TV), stick with the 50" Pioneer. The 50" screen is much bigger than the 40" and much better for watching movies and HD channels. While the new LNS series Samsungs have improved the picture quality for LCDs, the Pioneer plasma will still have the best picture - IMHO.

think the 50 inch pioneer and the hda1 will do you right. you will really appreciate and enjoy the added inches.

i saw the samsung BR with samsung 1080P dlp last night at CC and it had problems. Saw the Samsung BR tonight with samsung 1080P lcd at BB and it also had problems. It did have a good picture at both stores until you gave it a moment and could tell there was movement and sparkles that should not be there. it is being reported that the probelm is the moives being on single layer BD and mpeg2 compression is hurting the quality. Hopefully when they go dual layer BD 50gb and use better VC1 compression it will correct the PQ.

Stick with the Pio and HD DVD. You will enjoy that set a whole lot more than the smaller LCD. I'd also wait for format wars to play out a bit before investing too heavily in one or the other technologies. The HD DVD is less risk due to its lower cost.

At least you may have 30 day swap rights if you change your mind if you bought it locally. Samsung and Sharp have 52" LCD's arriving in Late Summer/Fall and of course the 52" Samsung will be much more affordable as the 57" Samsung can be acquired for half the price of the Sharp 57" and both are 1080P.

If your happy with the Pio fantastic - but if you end up with buyers remorse and you have return rights then you have other options as the 50" advantage for PDP size will be removed in the near future and both technologies have their advantages depending on one's viewing environ's which I can attest to as having owned both. As to that Samsung BDP it's getting less than glowing reports and most that've bought both are returning the BDP and holding onto the Toshiba - my Toshiba HD DVD arrives tomorrow and anxious to test it out.

Hope your happy with the Pio - it should be a great panel. If I were buying a PDP it would be the Pio 6070 - fantastic value or the Panny 65" 1080P. :)
