27 inch HD Samsung tube TV at Samsclub.

I was at Samsclub yesterday, and they had Samsung 27 inch HDTV for $488 (almost $100 cheaper than BestBuy or CirCuitcity). I am not sure if it was the “R” or “S” series, but model number is 2779H with integrated HD tuner.

The picture look good, but it seem to suffer slightly from over VSM (Velocity Scan Modulation). But as always, can’t judge a TV in the store unless taking it home and run it through the motions.

The 27" sets have suffered much less in the way of geometric problems versus widescreen models. So, it may not matter whether it's an R or an S series set. I've got an older model (TX-N) 27" set and I still love it.
