I have a Samsung which has a black-piano finished bezel. The glare off the bezel bugs me and I'd like to make it more like a matte finish. I'm considering very lightly sanding it or I thought maybe using some sort of chemical. Any suggestions?

That link does not list any prices, but if thier competators are any guide then I imagine they are very pricey.

Yup.

If they weren't or if there was a half-way reasonable solution, many of us would not be waiting for black bezel commercial Panasonics and would get the fugly silver consumer versions instead - then try to get rid of the silver.

Unfortunately, there is no cost effective or otherwise acceptable solution.

Home depot carries a spray can with a "frosting" effect. You might be able to use this to change the finish, I would practice first. Another idea have a pictire frame made to fit over the black, don't know if this will work as I can see your TV from here!

Return it and a get a Panny or NEC commercial Panel.

Why mess around and make the bezel, worse ?? :D

Yeah. You can home brew a bezel. Home Depot, in their moulding section, has some great 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" corner moulding than I plan on using it to suppor some optical quality plexiglass when I build my "kid toy deflection screen". I bought some for a test run and it looks like it will be fantastic. A nice flat black will make it look sweet.

I know what you mean. I have a Panasonic 600U which has enough style and black to make me feel OK about things but I'd prefer all matt black like the commercial series. I still think the 60U is on the decidedly wrong side of good product design.

I just didn't want to wait 6 months or more. I also like the all-in-one aspect of the stand alone TV concept for much of the casual viewing we do here. I must say, bottom line, the gloss piano black on the Pioneers and the Samsungs are a bigger problem, for me. They pick up reflections no matter what, bright picture, dark picture, even with the set off. And, they are a dust magnet. Must be a negative ion material. Fingerprints anyone?

Go to a Hardware Store,etc... and get some "0000" Steelwool Pads. Lightly Buff the Bezel with the steelwool.

I have painted more than a few plasma bezels flat black, with a foam roller and spray,, it can be kind of a pain.
If I had the plasma you have I would get some double sided tape and some strips of black felt fabric, it might look kinda cool if done right and when ya wish to re-sell the plasma it wont hurt the value, the tape and felt will come right off.
