yes I've done the search but really it never answered my question. I'm looking at buying a plasma in between the 2 - 3 k range for my bedroom should be a 42' or so maybe a bit smaller though. From what I gather Panasonic is one of the better plasmas, I usually can get a good deal at a local electronics shop cause I have a few friends who work there, they sell

pioneer
toshiba
hitachi
LG
Sharp
sony

I can also get a reasonably good deal on a panasonic if need be. I really not sure as to the 1080p sets yet but my friend was telling me the new hitachi 42hdt79 and it comes in in a week or so and i can get it for within my budget. I'm using it mostly for just regular tv but will have hd at some point soon. I will hopefully will have my hd-dvd player hooked up to it but for now it is in the HT room with my HT. would the 1080 hitachi set be a good choice, or should i try a 720p set for a bit cheaper since i could get a really good deal on one. I'm gonna buy one in 2 weeks So any suggestions would be just super :) It a fairly decent investment so i really want to make a good informed decision.

the only 1080P plasma coming out soon are the pioneer 50" fhd1 and the panasonic 65 incher both about $10K msrp. if you check some of the forum sponors you might could find the panasonic 50px60u for under or close to that $3k. and some other choices on 50" plasma under your $3k budget top end.

You might look at the Pioneer 4270, that may be getting close to your $3k mark. Otherwise, look at the new Hitachi series, HDS69, I believe its called. Their 42" sells all over for $2200, and seems to be quite nice indeed.
