I was looking into buying a plasma and found the Panasonic TH-50PX60U. I was just wondering the difference between the 60U model and the 50U and if they will both work the same in the US. I was wondering this because the site I ordered it off of said it would take 8-12 weeks to come in because they were shipping it from overseas. And when I entered in the modle number on Panasonics US web site it told me to go to its global site. Any help would be great. Thanks

Other than cosmetics, the main differences between the 60 and 50U are:
- The 60U has a better video processor.
- The 60U has (2) HDMI connections while the 50U has (1).
- The 50U has a CableCARD slot and the 60U has none.
- The 60U will stretch/zoom HD material (720p/1080i) and the 50U does not.
- The 60U supports 10,000:1 contrast ratio while to 50U is 3000:1 so the 60U renders a brighter image.

What site was this? I would be careful - they might be trying to sell you an old international version of the now discontinued 50U. If it sounds to good to be true...

50U has a less grainy picture. (some would say) :)

I ask, why buy old technology?
