I am a total newbie with this stuff so I will preface this post by saying some of these questions may be dumb. I just got an Olevia LT27HVX and I want to a get a good but inexpensive dvd player to go with it. So the Olevia is HD-ready and I do not have a tuner...I don't think this affects my dvd player at all, but I am just mentioning it. Tigerdirect has a good deal on a refurbished Samsund DVD-HD850 for 30 dollars after rebate. I noticed my tv only has DVI inputs while this DVD player has only HDMI outputs. Would I just be able to get a single cable that can attach the HDMI output to the DVI input on my TV or would I just be better off to find another dvd player with a dvi output and save the money on the cable? I read somewhere that these are fairly interchangeable. Also, would connecting it like this be better than simply using component cables? Lastly, is it worth it...Would the upconversion to 1080i which my tv and this dvd player both support show a significant improvement in picture from just a plain old dvd player w/ progressive scan? Thanks for the help.
