Hi All,

After reading this article on Slashdot (http://linux.slashdot.org/linux/06/09/02/2211252.shtml), I am pondering setting up some sort of DVR.

I currently have a Panasonic 44" LCD Television, Denon AVR 2106 + Axiom Speakers.
Is it worth setting this up? How would the quality look for taped HDTV shows?

TIA

Any guides about setting up a htpc digital video recorder for tv would be nice.
Even a simple step by step overview would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

MythTV works well. I would recommend you read up on the MythTV Wiki and other guides available on the web before you make a decision.

MythTV and Linux are great, but not for the faint of heart. There's a lot of info out there on setting up a system, but it takes a lot of reading to get it all setup and working correctly.

A First timer might my to try one of the Myth Distros like MythDora, or KnoppMyth.

Well, I can tech savy and been using Linux for about 9 years now...

I am more curious about the sound quality. I have a good reciver and speaker system, and I want to take advantage of it, with HD content i record.
