NuVo Announces Wireless iPod Dock for Multiroom Audio
Let's face it, most of our homes predate the iPod, so we're not exactly wired for whole-house music distribution with the iPod as a source.
Not a problem if you're using NuVo's Concerto product line for multiroom audio. NuVo just announced a compatible wireless iPod Dock that distributes both music and metadata, so you can play your tunes from inexpensive keypads throughout the house.
Virtually every manufacturer of multiroom audio now offers some kind of iPod connectivity, but this appears to be the first wireless solution.
The iPod Dock requires no in-wall wiring, and it's a charging station to boot. The system accommodates up to two docks.
The frequency-hopping RF technology operates in the 2.4-GHz range. The system automatically selects one of three frequencies to provide the clearest and most efficient path for the audio signals.
I got the demo at NuVo headquarters, and the product worked flawlessly.
