First I wanted to thank everyone for their help and advice on these boards which helped me make my decision. I have been a big fan of Sony TVs for years now, but given the price points on 32" LCD TVs, i thought the Samsung was a better value for my money.
I placed an order for the 3292 with buydig.com last Tuesday, and despite asking for free shipping which was to take 8-10 business days, my TV arrived last Friday. Very pleased with that of course, as well as the great price which was still $250 lower than the 3251 offered by B&M stores.
Now for my review:
Pros:
Great price for a great picture. I watched Star Wars Episode III, Gladiator, Lord of the Rings and Munich from my new Sony 75H via HDMI. Also watched HD cable programming all weekend (Anchorman, football, tennis). SD wasn't too bad, though like any other TV, going from HD to SD is disappointing. I have to play around with the settings, but out of the box, I probably preferred Movie Mode. I think I'm going to brighten it a bit and use that setting for my daily viewing of sports, movies, etc.
Sound actually wasn't that bad for internal speakers. TV and movies, I found them to be quite decent for bedroom use. The bass is a bit lacking of course, but higher frequencies were quite good.
Design of the TV is great. The glossy bezel was a bit distracting in a bright bedroom, but not too bad. When I moved it to my main bedroom which is a bit darker, there was no distraction issue at all. The remote is pretty sweet looking too. I also get a kick out of the Star Trek-like beep when I turn the TV off.
Cons:
So far the only thing I can think of is the lack of component video inputs, which forced me to buy the new DVD player since my cable provider only makes HD boxes with component video outs. I know some complained that it takes a bit of time for the TV to turn on. Probably is about 3-5 seconds, which doesn't bother me, but some apparently don't like that.
All in all a great TV and I would highly recommend it. Also would recommend buydig.com. Thanks again to everyone that helped me as I was agonizing over my decision.
