**I hope this is the right place to post this.**

Three weeks ago my family purchased a Panasonic Plasma HDTV from Sam's Club(similar to a Costco or a BJ's, etc). We researched consumer reports and all the major consumer guides for a "good buy". This tv (the TH-50PX6U model) was well recommended so we went with it.

I have not posted 5 or more times so I can't post a link directly to Panasonic's website - but simply going to their tv section will allow you to find my model: TH-50PX6U

I had ZERO knowledge of a break-in period when the TV was purchased and only found out about it from browsing Panasonic's website after the following incident occured:

The day after purchasing the tv it was used with an Xbox 360. About 5 hours of gaming occured and it left a "ghost" image of the static hud. I researched on several forums and on Panasonic's website about the image retention and learned that it could be temporary. After 3 days of viewing normal television i could with assurity say the image was completely 100% gone.

I continued my research on the break-in period and found this website and the post concerning tv break-ins and burn ins. I have read probably 300 posts in that topic and none seem to answer my specific questions well enough.

My plasma tv has now been used 126 hours exactly on extremely low settings to ensure no problems. I have kept a log out of pure paranoia of burn-ins. Today I decided to give the old xbox360 another try purely because I craved those shiny graphics. With the TV still on the low settings I decided to put in a new game that came out: Lego Starwars 2. Playing the game for only 30 minutes my paranoia kicked in about "burn ins" and damaging image retention. I put the game down and flipped to normal tv.

To my horror I saw image retention.

THIS IS WHERE THE MAJOR QUESTIONS OF MY POST START:

The TV has been "broken in" for 126+ hours. I played a game for 30 minutes and it left image retention. Is this normal? Yes the image retention went away in 5 minutes of normal tv viewing but I am still horrified. So once again is this normal?

If it is not normal will continueing the break in period to 200+ hours help? 900+hours? Any hours? Is this image retention or "ghosting" something I can safely live with knowing that it will be gone minutes after use? Is it going to eventually cause damage to my tv?

If the image retention is not normal/safe during use of a plasma tv with gaming then I will return the it for LCD and hope for better results. If it is normal then I can live a little more comfortable knowing it's okay.

Thank you for taking the time to read and respond to my questions.

Doug, I'm not an expert on image retention or on gaming. There are probably threads on gaming and plasmas and maybe even on Panasonic plasmas (though maybe not on your specific model). Use the Advanced Search feature and search for a TITLE that matches your problem.

If there are static images than I would say that even 30 minutes might cause it. If they're disappearing quickly, though, then that's good.

Reseach and report back. ;)

Thank you very much! I did not know about the advanced search feature. It led me right to where i wanted to go. :)
