My wife and I have finally decided on the TV, it's the Panasonic TH-50PX60U, it's a relatively decent price, it gets really great reviews (for the most part). I was going to mount it myself, I'm not running the cables through the wall, just feed them through something that hides them.
Are there good and bad wall mounts? I've seen them range from 70.00 to well over 300.00.
I just need it to be able to tilt, and that's about it. Nothing really fancy, just something to hang it up SAFELY. I searched and found 100's of threads on mounting, and looked through most of them, didn't really find anything that said brand x is a better mount than brand z.
Also is the Sears extended warranty worth it? It seems to cover alot more than the best buy or circuit city warranties.
Thanks in advance!

Hey I am getting the same tv soon from Costco look there if you have doubts about anybodys warranty. They have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. I returned a projector there after 2 years when it stopped working. They had no problem. If I am allowed to ask how much are you spending on the tv and warranty?
I have looked at wall mounts also. Couldn't tell you which one is the best but I saw a cool one for only 139$ called the lightning mount on lightning mounts .com

Personally, I don't think there is much of a difference between the $300 mounts and $70 mounts. They are all made of steel. It's just name brand you are mostly paying for. I purchased a $70 wall mount for my 50" plasma and seems to be great.

At the risk of sounding like a one hit wonder as it moves down the charts..
For a risk neutral person, extended warranties are a very bad bet. Especially at Sears--they have among the most expensive warranties.
Buy with a credit card the extends your warrantee to 2 yrs. Now, compare the $700 dollars that you are spending for the 4 year warrantee to what you receive. You would be waranteeing years 3 and 4. At the end of year 3, your $2500 plasma has a present value of (if you are lucky) of $1000.
In essence, for the average person to come out ahead-- every panasonic would have to catastrophcially fail in years 3 or 4. IF you REALLY think that is going to happen, I strongly recommend a different manufacturer.
Now factor in the time value of money and the hassle of actually collecting on the warrantee, should something go wrong. A huge profit center for the retailers that comes straight out of your pocket.

BTW - I purchased this set and am very happy with it--of course it's just a tv and the resulting picture is only OK on bad SD channels.
I bought it at BB about 5 months ago for $2650--including the rewards zone kick-back. I think everyone is below this now, but back then it was a pretty good deal.

That was a great price for 5 months ago! I am very happy with mine as well. Just thought I'd add that I accidentally recorded Heroes the other night in SD, must've set the wrong channel. I was really upset with myself and was thinking "Oh God, now I have to watch this great show in crappy SD", but I was surprised at how it looked. I was dreading it and never stray into the "deplorable SD realm" of my channel lineup, but it was most definitely watchable and I couldn't really complain about the quality, to be honest! Granted, I moved from a 36" tube, so my SD was already on the "big side", so maybe that's why I don't see too much difference, but I was very very pleasantly surprised at the quality of SD. It's not HD, but what do you expect?

I have a pio and just mounted mine last week or so... I purchased the Sanus VMSA articulating mount.
I think there are 2 things you need to ask yourself. Do you need tilt and or articulating.
The reason I went with the Sanus, is that when collapsed, it's only 2.5". from the wall. That's pretty narrow for an articulating mount. If you don't need tilt or articulating, I think you can find some that are even thinner from the wall.
I'm happy with it and I might not move it a lot, but the ability to move it a little to get behind the TV has proven to be useful, as I have hidden the cables through the wall.
