I don't care about external speakers, a built in tuner, the separate media center, or the gloss black finish that the Elite model offers. My only concern is performance and image quality. I'm sure it's a little early to see direct comparisons between the 1140 and the 507 since neither has been out very long, but it's my understanding that last year's 505 will out perform the 1130 in terms of image quality when outfitted with the Key Digital HD Xplorer card or another quality outboard scaler. Is that correct? I'm also assuming that this year's 507 and 1140 models will be no different in that respect.?? Finally, because of the amount of money I would be saving by purchasing the 507 rather than the 1140, I'm tossing around the idea of buying a DVDO VP20 scaler with the optional ABT deinterlacer card and using it rather than the Key Digital HD Xplorer card. Any thoughts on this or another outboard scaler that would outperform either one of these for roughly the same price or less than the VP20? I realize the Key Digital card offers direct HDMI connections vs. having to use an HDMI to DVI cable if I go the outboard scaler route, but I don't care since all audio will be going to my surround system anyway. Any suggestions and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.
