I am thinking to go with a separate 2-ch preamp/DAC route, instead of a 7.1 surround pre/pro. My current set-up is: Marantz SR8500 pre-out to Gemstone 200WX7 power amp, and to Energy Veritas speakers. I am happy with the movie mode. It is the 2-ch music that I want enhancement.
Ideally, my requirements are as follows:
A. Digital coax cable input for CD player.
B. Sub-woofer output for listening to heavy bass music
C. I want to do DAC only once from CD player to power amp output. This means that I can have the following two configurations:
C.1. integrated preamp and DAC
C.2. separate DAC and all-analog preamp
D. Two outputs: one to Gemstone and one to a tube amp for future expansion
E. Can take the L/R pre-out from the AV receiver
Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.
