This review is on probably the best kept secret in audio, the First Watt Amplifier, Aleph J. This is a two channel amp with only 25 watts per channel. However, its a Class A design and is the best bargain in audio in my opinion. It is hand built by legendary amp guru, Nelson Pass. I use this amp to drive my Infinity Composition Prelude P-FR loudspeakers which play 96db with a 1 watt input. This is probably the greatest investment in my audio system. The sonic quality can be summed up as Pure and Sweet with stunning clarity. Never have I heard a sound of this quality which literally puts you inside the recordings. I am now hearing instruments in my CDs that I never knew existed with killer imaging and speed. All of this is without that digital bite. This amp sounds like tubes, and plays loud and clean. Now I understand the terms timing pacing and speed as this amp hits a note and moves on the the next one without lingering on the last note. I am rediscovering all of my current CDs, and now my system is complete. If you have speakers that are efficient and can play at least 90db with a one watt input, it would be criminal for you not to audition this amp which sounds well out of its price range. I also own a Krell and it blows that amp away by a substantial margin. AUDITION THIS AMP AT ALL COST. You'll be glad you did so as it truly is a bargain purchase at the present time. I understand that Nelson Pass willl be increasing the price the first of the year so if you can swing it, now is the time. My real name is Robert G. Raynor, Jr., and I am proud to endorse this fine product.

Thanks, you are right. I, too, am into mutli-channel. In addition to the Alelph J, I have a 5 channel Krell amp Model KAV-500. So, I have real 7.1 channel sound. But, this Aleph J, with just 2 channel, blows away 7.1 making it sound gimmiky. My main 2 left and right speakers are full range, and this 2 channel with the Aleph J is in another sound league altogether. I'm hoping to get others on board so they can know what they are missing.

Still keeping this thread alive. Someone has efficient speakers to take advantage of this amp.

No doubt anyone sufficiently motivated to seek out an amp of this nature will/can find it on their own.

After all, you did; yes?

Thanks for responding. I'm on a mission to expose this gem of an amp as it has made me enjoy music again. Most of us simply do not understand that power amps do not equate to great sound. Even though this Aleph J is just 30 wpc, it blows away my Krell amp sonically. And, the Aleph J plays as loud as I want it to play. If you can, you need to demo this amp. Reno Hi Fi has provisions for this, and they only charge a $100.00 restocking fee. Once you've heard a Class A amp, you'll settle for nothing less.

Not interested....

My Yamaha M-80's do real Class A to 30 wpc. Besides, I need another amp like another hole in the head.

If anything, I'd buy another Levinson No. 23 to run a pair as monoblocs at 800 wpc. If you know of a good deal on one of those let me know...
