I've been trying (mostly unsuccessfully) to hook up my new 30" Philips 30PW8420 to save space and to utilize it for gaming purposes, but I've run into a bit of trouble with getting the right resolution to fit the TV and not be too small or spill over the edges. My desktop comes up at first displayed in squished 640x480, with no other option available in the Settings tab of the Display menu. In my ATI Catalyst menu I can force a 720p and a 1080i resolution, but both of them end up "spilling over" the edges of the screen, with the taskbar and furthermost icons off completely, and 1080i flickers like crazy to boot. There's a "Scale image to panel size" option, but it does nothing (noticeable at least). Does anyone have experience with this set or had similar problems with another?

It is overscan. Talk to the people in the HTPC forum or the Gaming forum and they can maybe recomend some utilites to minimize it.

I was trying to do the same thing but it ended up being more trouble than it was worth.
