View Full Version : Yamaha RX V1700 and Ipod Dock
I've done a bit of searching on the boards and still can't find anything that is relevant. I'm trying to get the receiver and the ipod dock (yamaha YDS-10) I can get everything to show up on the screen, the ipod menu, get music to play, but from my understanding I'm suppose to be able to see video which I can't, not even purchased video. I have the latest 80GB ipod with firmware 1.2. Anyone out there have similar problems and able to get this work?
I have a HTR5960 and am considering the same dock -- not so much for music as for short video clips and pictures for my wife.
My receiver's owners manual is not crystal clear on how everything interoperates, but it does contain this note: "You cannot browse the photos or video clips stored on your iPod in the OSD. Instead, you must use the controls on your iPod to select the desired photos or video clips. For details, see 'Controlling the iPod without using the OSD on page xx'."
Sounds like you need to manually control the photo / video stuff from the iPod screen (or from your remote, but without the ability to see the options on your TV display). Can you try it this way (if you haven't already)? I'd be curious if it at least works this way, though still disappointed that the OSD capability appears to be limited to music only.
Hope that helps, and thanks for a response as to whether you got it working in this manner.
This is the problem, is that once you dock the Ipod into the dock, you get a Yamaha logo and the ipod is pretty much useless at that point. Unless there is a trick to this madness?
