Okay, just bought this set at circuit city last night, don't have it home yet but getting it picked up today. One of the major things I want from my TV is to easily connect up to my PC in the living room. Obviously the quality won't be as great on a divX vid as it would on a DVD, but I imagine playing it off the computer at the native TV resolution will still make it look great.

Anyway, my real question is that after a fair amount of research, I finally figured out that basically DVI and HDMI are the same thing, a different plug and HDMI carrying sound are the only major differences. So, my 9800 Pro (the card in my computer) has a DVI output on it, so it should be a simple matter of picking up a DVI to HDMI converter and getting a great picture from my computer. However, what I'm worried about now is how to deal with the sound.

In my old(current) setup, I have an old school composite cable running from the output on my card to my TV (yellow to yellow!) and an old Y-Splitter going from the 1/8" headphone/sound jack on the computer to the left and right (white and red!) jacks on the TV. Obviously this works because it's all going to the same input on the TV, so when i'm on 'AV 1' it plays the audio and the video.

My concern lies in the fact that I'll be going from the DVI to the TV's HDMI input which the TV will assume inherently has audio built in to it. However, the DVI out on my video card isn't going to deliver any audio, just the picture.

I do not have a nifty external sound system, so connecting it directly into a stereo isn't really an option. I'm wondering if anyone with this TV has a similar situation and figured out a solution. Can I play audio from composite cables (go from the Y-splitter to the composite inputs)and video from the HDMI, or is it going to lock me in to the HDMI 'channel'.

Thanks in advance, and i'm looking forward to getting my TV today!

well, it seems as if I have found the answer to my own question from another source.

if anyone else is wondering about this, it seems like most HDMI connectors will also have analog inputs for audio.
