I have a pair of B&W CDM1 which i have QED bi-amp cables ready to connect up.
I am a big 24-bit DVD-Audio fan and do also like 1-bit SACD, but have no problems, playing 16-bit CD music be that DTS or 20-bit HDCD. I also have a few dual disc CD so looking for a system that will drive my speakers well and work well with anything i play.
The amp must be 2 channel only. Since i already have a great 7.1 room.
With different input connections possible as i have yet to buy the player to go with the amp.
I am looking at bi-amp my speakers as a must !
I am looking at spending around £500.00 pounds that is around $1000.00 dollars but will consider spending more if the results are well noticable.
I do like Denon Gear, Acram fmj Gear and a few others, but hoping some one could help me, i live in the U.K.
Thanks for reading... :)
Might be better in the AMP forum instead of Surround Music (;

Hmm, I don't know any Flagship amps for $1000. If you are willing to not have a Flagship model, a used Bryston may be your best bet. They have 20 year transferrable warantees, are high quality.
How many wpc do you need? Tube or SS?

You may want to consider Rotel.
How can you bi-amp with a 2 channel amp?
I am hoping someone will be able to help me with ref. to 2 channel amps which i know very little about. Some of Denon top amps offer Bi-amping front channels. If nothing else around, then i would consider looking at an intergrated Amp 7 channel that offers 2 front channels bi-amp. The Denon AVR 2307 offers front bi-amp so would be an options.

Darrell
Thanks for the reply, i have not said or mentioned anything about a flagship amp? I am just looking for a good 2 channel setup. I do have 3 rooms setup with;
7.1 Flagship room with Pioneer latest 50inch screen.
I have a 5.1 Kef with projector to to be fitted setup
A 2 channel setup would be great to do well. I am looking for a good amp for this room. I know that some 2 channel amps are impressive and very good, but as i am mainly into 5.1, 6.1. I am not sure. 2 channel setup is a complete new stage, hence why i am asking anyone with 2 channel back ground. Take care.

You can easily bi-amp one channel with a 2 channel amp. :D

Sure, you can bi-amp with one of those Denon AVRs. Any 7 channel amp will let you biamp with a pair of Y-cables from the pre/pro.
Besides, what are "bi-amp cables?" Just double sets of regular cables? You seem to be talking about a lot of different issues simultaneously.

If you "biamp" with a 2-channel amp then what you are really doing is biwiring, which has far fewer benefits (more likely none at all.)

Thanks for the feedback. :)
I was under the impression that 2 channel set up is important to get right and finding the correct gear to work with the speakers i have is also important.
I thought bi-amp was a good step for 2 channel music setup..
In the end, all i am after is a very good 2 channel setup that will play say standard
16-bit CD music and sound great with my CDM1 B&W speakers.
Thanks again for the feedback.

Your best deals will probably be on UK-made kit. Cambridge Audio has been piling up awards. One of their CD players or universal players with one of their integrated amps would be pretty nice. (I think the Azur 540 pair fits your budget.) The Arcam Solo is another award-winner to look at (CDP and amp in one unit.)
