Currently HD2 Channels are rebroadcasts of a stations sister AM stations or Web offerings. Some select stations are choosing to broadcast a completely separate format on the HD2, like KROQ in LA. They have a more hard core rock selection of songs you would not hear on the main stream station.
Also in LA KZLA, one of the only country music stations was changed to Movin 93.9 and broadcasts KZLA country on the HD2 channel. 97.1 Free FM is positioning re-broadcasts of their other talk shows and Dodger games from their sister AM station.
It is exciting. Aside from all the "improved" audio quality I am looking forward to the exciting new frontier that HD2 will bring to radio. And you know, I like commercials, if it wasn't for commercials I wouldn't know what to do if I needed breast augmentation or my oil changed.
