If you guys were buying a 50" plasma tv today which one would you get?

I'm thinking between Pioneer and Panasonic but would like some opinions on any. Range somewhere around 2500-4000.

Thanks for the opinions!

The one that looked best to my eyes. This occurs when you do research and look at them first hand. But I would recommend the highly recommend Ikia or Maxment or even the high end Vizio.lol
If you guys were buying a 50" plasma tv today which one would you get?
If you're buying from one of the typical B&Ms I'd recommend any of these: Pioneer PDP-5071HD, Panasonic TH-50PX60 or 600U and if you can spend a wee-bit more... currently the "best" value for 720p PDPs is the Panasonic TH-58PX60 or 600U.

And then pocket the change to buy an HDDVD or BRDVD - That is if you are going 1080p... ;)

It would probably be between Panasonic or Pioneer. I've seen some pretty damn good deals on the 60U recently, which makes the difference between the Panasonic and Pioneer close to $900 - $1000. At that price difference, I think the Panasonic is a better value with picture quality that many would argue is just as good if not better (at least with black levels). With the extra money saved, go buy yourself a new PC, Laptop, HD-DVD player, bluray player, etc....

The new 1080p Pioneer (assuming I had to only purchase a 50" TV and nothing larger).

I would buy the HP PL5060N 50" plasma. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7731582&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat95100050005&id=1140392418631. I have a 42" HP and love these tv's, especially for the price. Many sales on them. BB had them for less than 2000 recently and prices are moving ever downward.

Just remember that most plasmas need to be tweaked once they get home. The 42" HP did not look best in the store. When I got it home and tweaked it per our HP plasma thread, it made my whole family's jaws drop. Discovery channel, TNT HD, INHD, etc are just stunning. Have your Bro in law check this thread http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=666442 :)

I think that while your eyes should make the final call, some of the guys in here know their stuff and this should be helpful to at least weed out the garbage. :D

I would buy the one I just bought: Pio 5070.

BTW, I've been shopping, er, procrastinating for over two years. I needed a panel with a tuner, so that severely limited my choices.

But man, oh man, this beauty is awesome!

Definitely PDP-5070HD. Not only does it look better but the customer satisfaction is higher as well.
