Long story short, is this more trouble than its worth? I have a 7800GT outputting component (at the moment) to a Panasonic CRT direct view HDTV. The TV supports 480i, 480p, 1080i. My monitor is a Samsung LCD.
What I want to do is use my computer normally, and use the secondary video output to play movies on the TV screen. I can get it to work in various ways, but not in optimal ways.
Just some random examples:
- Theatretek crashes when trying to play in the secondary display (quartz.dll)
- WMP11 comlpains about copyright
- Media Player Classic sometimes wont play in secondary display (just displays black)
- FFDShow filters would need to be set one way for TV and another for PC
And random question, is there any advantage to all the hardware de-interlacing with PureVideo if the video is just going to end up on a CRT TV at 1080i ?
Bottom line is it works, but it is very clunky. I might have to drag a file over rather than opening it, start the app in the second display, or sometimes start in primary then move it over to secondary, bla bla bla. And of course it depends on what kind of video I am trying to watch.
So am I missing something, or is DualView just known to be problematic?
