Here's my story...

I'm almost 20 years old and I'm a college student on a limited budget. Right now in my dorm I have a 13" mono SDTV hunk of junk. I bought a Wii when I came home from school for break and have been playing it on the 27" WEGA SDTV.

I'm concerned about the size of the 13" TV being too small to play Wii properly, plus I'm planning on going high-def when I move off campus next fall, since then I'll be able to pay for my own HD signal (I can't right now since the University doesn't have HD channels, and my school is about 80 miles away from the nearest big town, Columbus.)

I'm thinking of a 32" LCD, most likely a Sharp model since it's the cheapest name brand and everyone here seems to go ga ga over them.

Is it worth getting the HDTV now for the Wii (480p and a larger screen vs. 480i and a screen that may be too small), or should I wait for summer? How much further will prices tumble come summer for the 32" LCD's?

You know, an EDTV would work great for a Wii, and they are dirt cheap these days too. If you are getting a TV just for the Wii, no need to spend the extra for HD since it will never go above 480p. If you plan on watching HD or going HD movies, then yes, there will always be a better deal in the future. Just find something you like, for the price you like, and take the plunge when you are ready. It will always be cheaper 2 months later.

With the Wii at 480p and no HD sources, do you really need a name brand LCD? Some respectable no-name brand 32" LCDs are available for a fraction of a Sharp. I am not even sure Sharp makes their own 32". I am no expert so read the threads here. No sense in buying more TV than your sources need.

And yes, it will always be cheaper in the future. That is the world of electronics. But then you will miss out on enjoying a bigger TV now! If you decide to wait, at least spend $150 for a 27" generic CRT and toss that 13" ASAP.

Vizio 32 is [EDIT] at Costco. Cheap, works great and comes with Costco"s best ever return policy. Hard to find a better bang for the buck. VGA input makes it a good computer monitor, too.

Thanks for the responses.

The TV isn't just for Wii, it will eventually be for HD when I move off campus and into my condo. That won't happen til next September though.

I'm home in June and will have access to HD sources, so I'm thinking I should probably wait til' then. If the prices come down like I think/hope they will, the wait should be worth it. If prices level off I'll be upset.
