Hi,
I've recently purchased a 2807 and I'm having no luck getting the HDMI output to work with my Panny 100XT projector. At first I was able to get the on-screen setup over HDMI but now I can't even get that, everything works fine over component but I have not been able to get a video image from either of my HDMI sources (Samsung 860 DVD player & Scientific Atlantic 8300 Cable Box). When I go into the menu to assign the HDMI inputs it says there is no signal, the odd thing is that even though it says no signal I get audio from the 8300 but no video? Is this a setup issue or is it possible to get a bad unit, I'm confused as to why I get audio without video and why the on screen setup over HDMI stopped working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Greg

Pretty sure that cable box has known issues with this. Not sure on the DVD player though.
You can turn off OSD with the press of a button, maybe that button got pressed inadvertently?

I've had similar problems with a Sony receiver. Most of my problems, though, had to do with DVI input on the Panny projector. Very frustrating.
Still, as far as HDMI, I've found strange problems that seem to do with communication between HDMI devices. Occasionally, I get no signal from the HDMI DVD to the HDMI Reciver, so i unplug the cable going to the receiver and plug it back in, and everything works great. It shouldn't be this way, but the only thing I can think is that if the devices don't see each other on boot-up, they don't try again until some event - such as disconnecting and reconnecting the cable - causes a re-try.
I'd love to hear a better explanation from someone more knowledgable, but try my suggestion, and see if it doesn't work.
BTW, I have a Motorola cable box, and have never been able to get it to wrok with HDMI. Maybe the spec isn't as standard as we would hope.

First your projector has to be HDCP (copy protection) compliant to work via HDMI. If your projector actually has an HDMI input then you are fine. But if it has a DVI input it may not also be HDCP-compliant.
Second, your cable box has a bug that keeps it from working through a receiver to a TV via HDMI. Your cable box may or may not have had its software fixed to deal with that bug. Some cable providers haven't bothered. If the cable box works via HDMI when directly connected to the TV, but doesn't work through the receiver, then it still has this bug.
In addition, quite a few people have reported problems with HDMI from Samsung players.
Finally, one of the most common problems with HDMI is cable quality. Unlike Component, a flakey HDMI cable won't give you a mostly correct image. A flakey HDMI cable will give you no image at all. Your HDMI cable(s) may be damaged, or poor quality, or they may simply not be fully inserted into the sockets. It is also, unfortunately, rather easy to damage HDMI sockets if you aren't careful about how you insert the plugs, or if the weight of the cable or other factors puts strain on the plug in the socket. Projector owners frequently find that the HDMI plug at the projector end has simply come loose a fraction. That's all it takes to lose signal.
