Plasma above vent free fireplace question

Hi all, I have a 42" Panasonic Plasma that I want to mount above a vent free fireplace (natural gas) with no mantel, it would be flush with the fireplace? Whats your thoughts on that?

Just my opinion, but I think it's tacky. The focus of the room shouldn't be the TV, it should compliment the room.
