Up-Grade my Sim2 HT300+ PJ Opinions

I have a Sim2 HT300 E-Link projector I bought new October 2004. I am pretty much happy with it but I would like to get a HD-DVD player and upgrade to 1080P. Since the Sim2 HT300's are 720P I plan on replacing this PJ sometime in 2007.
Staying in the $15k and under price range what is the best bang for the buck?

thanks! Mike

Your budget will keep you in the 1 chip 1080 DLP camp. A few high lites or cream of crop would be the Sim2 3000, the Marantz VP11S1 and the the Sharp 20k. All well under your budget.
I have spent time with all of these and you will find many improvements beyond the additional pixels. Dithering is almost a non issue and its reported rainbows are rare. Color sat is great as well. You will be very please with any one of these projectors!!

First generation 1080 3 chip DLP will street well into the 30s and 40k price range.

Thanks for the reply Alan your reply will send me in my direction.

Basically I do not see rainbows on my current PJ but I am wanting to future proof my system some to take advantage of 1080P. Also I'd like to get some more brightness/pop of of my projected picture as well. Sensuous Sounds in Tampa did my ISF for my PJ 2 years ago.

My room is light controlled with black ceiling, black acoustic treated front wall and brown/black faux painted walls. The theater is in a room off of the kitchen seperated by a thick black curtain. I am useing Da-Lite white 106" motorized screen (do not know the gain or model#) and front row is around 12 feet away and back row is elevated and 20 feet away fromt he screen.
