Working with HD1000U limitations

I'm new to posting, but have read extensively on the forum. I have a question that I haven't seen an exact answer to in my searches. I just ordered my first HT package. It is a HD1000U with a 120" Fixed Mount screen. I realized going in that I may have issues with the screen size due to my low ceilings (7'9"). From the calculations my screen will start anywhere from 7" - 12" above the floor and end at 26" - 21" below the ceiling. I would like to move this up to start at 19" below the floor and end at 14" below the ceiling. The only way I can think of is by tilting the projector when installing it.

My question is whether anyone has dealt with a similar issue and whether adjusting the projector so the image is a foot higher will cause a noticeable loss of focus/sharpness. I will be projecting from approximately 17'.

Any feedback or suggestions on how to address this issue is appreciated.

you will have to use keystone to correct the trapiziod effect that tilting it will cause....the effect in image quality can be somthing you only notice when looking for it...or when text is displayed on the screen basically you will be relying on the scaler to scale the image back to a rectangle so the image will not be pixel mapped and as crytal clear in some instances. The trick would be to get the projector as high as possible...the offset is so high you can even mount it recessed in a drop ceiling setup...

Since you have a fixed screen, you might want to consider tilting the screen some to match the tilt of the projector.

Thumbs up

Thank you both for your input. I think the recessed mounting may be a possibility as well as tilting the screen. I never would have thought of either of those, so thanks for the feedback.

One additional question. If I do mount the monitor recessed into the ceiling a few inches, is there any issue with it overheating, or do the fans cool it from below?

Thanks again.

you shouldn't have any heating issues since the drop ceilings are going to have 2x2 tiles, plenty of room for the air to move around
