HDnet makes shuttle launch HD video available for download

www.hd.net
you have to download some tsr p2p proprietary torrent client.
File size is proportedly 1.3 gig wmv for 20 mins. I can't get the
file to download, maybe someone else can.

I downloaded it last night. 1.29 Gigs to be exact. It didn't look like there was any DRM. This wil l become your new video to show off your HTPC. It is for me now!

I still can not get their p2p software to work, maybe we could
set up a real torrent for it?

What is the legality of this? If they share it openly on the net do we have the right to share it openly? If someone posts one of their copyrighted images on the net are with allowed share that image with someone else? Is it ok as long as we don’t pass it off as our own or profit from it? Just curious?

Are you using Internet Explorer and do you have your pop up blocker turned off. Once I did these two things every worked. It could be your firewall also? Once I downloaded the video I removed all of the programs that it installed. They seemed to be eating up a lot of resources.

Save isn't working for me says access not allowed. I started the "background" download but I'm not impressed so far. Torrent it please!

It would be really cool if Mark would give his blessing for us to start a torrent.

Add me to the list of those who couldn't get it to download.

I installed the Red Swoosh client.

I skipped the subscribe step as I have no desire to be bothered by spam.

I clicked on the Download Now link and got a page that wanted me to download and install the client again. If I right click on this link and choose Save Target As, I get a file named 2.htm which is the same page, offering to install the client.

I tried the background download link too, but I somehow doubt it will ever do anything.

I removed the client as I have no desire to keep useless sh!t on my PC.

Another vote for a torrent.

I got the same thing when I "RIGHT" clicked on the link and clicked save as. So I left clicked. It tried to bring it up in media player. I didn't want that so I went back and right clicked after it had started the download. Then it let me save as. I would start a torrent but I am still not sure on the legality and plus I have no idea how to start a torrent or even search for one. Why can't downloading be easy like in the days of Kazza and Bear Share! It is just to complicated now!

While we’re voting and if you’re reading Mark, how about releasing in a more ‘neutral’ ‘open’ format like Transport Stream? IIRC your original thoughts were in favor of .ts files.

BTW, Way cool you’re doing this…

If it's freely downloadable, I can't see how a torrent would be a problem.

When I try to left click, i get the following error:

Forbidden

I was able to download it with Firefox.

Right-clicked and copied the URL for download and pasted it into Firefox. Removed the first portion of the URL, leaving just the portion that points to the source location for the wmv file.

Entered the new URL, and chose download when asked whether to open or download. I was able to get a download speed of 535Kb/sec.

Thanks for the tip. Based on your suggestion I tried
http://www.onefeed.net/hd/store/HDN...e_Discovery.wmv

Downloading with FF right now. I am at 200 MB and getting around 650KB/s but it is slowly dropping...

With either of those alternative methods I'm getting the same forbidden error:

Same here, with any of the alternative methods listed here (being very careful to follow the steps) or even following the exact official steps and doing the subscribe thing I get the same 'Forbidden' error.

Have you I tried to manually paste the link
onefeed.net/hd/store/HDNet_Shuttle_Discovery.wmv ?

(You need to add http://www in front of it.)

When I cut & paste the URL into DAP (Download Accellerator), I get a dialog box prompting for a USERNAME & PASSWORD???

But if I cut & paste the URL into IE address bar, then WMP10 opens and starts trying to play... buffer... play... buffer...

Got it here. Looks great! In my office on my 23" widescreen at the moment. Want to see it on a bigger screen too. Later when I am home.

those of us unfortunate enough to get the forbidden message have in common?

Yep, the link in post 14 seems to be working for me, too. I'm downloading it now. Says it'll take 4 hours over my DSL connection!

Will Media Player 10 play this file without any add-ins?
